The beginning of a new year often provides cause to reflect. And entering a new decade in 2020 inspired the Howard Kennedy trainees to consider the past 10 years and the key developments in select areas of the law. In the third instalment of the Howard Kennedy trainee's decade review, I reflect on recent developments regarding adjudication. 

The Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 introduced adjudication to the construction industry. In short, adjudication is a dispute resolution method specifically for construction contracts which aims to resolve disputes quickly and maintain the relationship between the parties. Here I discuss two interesting cases which have provided insight and guidance on what happens when a referring party is insolvent.
